State-approved curriculum, certified instructors, flexible scheduling, and everything your teen needs to earn their Texas learner permit and driver license.
You Will need to take to the DPS the following documentation:
✓Personal & School Documents
✓Proof of Residency
✓Valid Learner’s License (Instruction Permit)
✓Verification of Enrollment (VOE) from your school
✓DE-964 Certificate from your driver education provider
✓30-Hour Behind-the-Wheel Practice Log
✓Vehicle Requirements (if using your own car)
The vehicle must have:
✓Passed inspection
✓A valid inspection sticker
✓A valid registration sticker
✓Current insurance
✓Must be 16 years or older
✓Must have a valid DE-964 or DE-964E proving completion of Teen Drivers Ed
✓Must have held a learner permit for at least 6 months
✓Must complete the ITTD video (Impact Texas Teen Drivers)
✓ITTD certificate must be dated within 90 days of the road test
✓After passing the road test, the school will issue a sealed envelope with all documentation required by the DPS
Before taking your road test with A2Z or the DPS, all drivers under 18 — and any driver who completed a Teen Driver Education program — must watch the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) video.
✓ Required by Texas law
✓ Must be completed within 90 days of your road test
✓ Certificate must be presented before the test can be administered
✓ Teens 15–17 who completed a Teen Driver Ed course
✓ Drivers 18–24 who completed a Teen Driver Education course or Parent Taught program
✓ Anyone who completed a Teen program (even if now over 18)
